Trail Guides

Trail Guides share a love of nature and enjoy working with children. These volunteers are trained to lead school groups on the trails of Oregon Ridge Park. The guided hikes give children a chance to explore the forest, field and stream habitats of the Park.

Interested individuals are encouraged to complete the General Volunteer Form and attend one of the semi-annual (February and September) Trail Guide Trainings at the Nature Center.

During the three-day Trail Guide Training you will learn about the animals, birds, flowers, trees and insects that inhabit Oregon Ridge Park as well as the topics covered of the school field trips. You will also learn how to effectively share your knowledge while hiking with children. (There is a $20 fee for first-time attendees.)

Your love of nature is contagious, so the children leave not only with some new knowledge about the outdoors, but a healthy dose of appreciation for our environment.
