WAKE UP GROUNDHOG! - Saturday, Feb. 1 or Sunday, Feb. 2; 10 - 11:30 a.m. - Is winter over yet? Has the groundhog woken up! Learn the lore and natural history related to one of the few true hibernators in Maryland. Dress for a short hike to see where they may be hiding out and see what other critters are doing in early February. This program is for adults and children 5+, and th fee is $3 per person ($2 for ORNCC Members). Advanced registration is required.

TRAIL GUIDE TRAINING - Tuesday, Feb. 4 thru Thursday, Feb. 6; 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. - The Nature Center is in need of volunteers to help with school field trips. Trail Guide Volunteers lead small groups of students around the park for a hands-on experience. No minimum time commitments. This season’s topics include Maple Sugaring, Insects and the Chesapeake Bay. This program is for adults, and the fee is $20 for first time attendees. Advance registration is required.

JOB AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - We are now accepting applications for our Spring Maryland Master Naturalist Course. Don't wait... this course filled last year. We are also currently accepting applications for summer staff: Naturalist - Camp, Naturalist - Outreach, Counselor-in-training. Also, we are seeking Part-Time Naturalists, Park Attendants, Naturalist Interns, and Ridge Runners. The Nature Center is open from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Sunday. We are closed on Mondays and all County observed holidays. Also, the Park is open every day sunrise to sunset - March thru October, except In the winter (November - February) the Park is open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

NOTICE: If you are planning a group visit of 10 or more people, you will need to call in advance. For details please review our Rules and Regulations. Also, please note that swimming, alcohol, crab feasts, glass containers, fires, personal grills, balloons and amplified music are prohibited in the park. Grilling is only permitted when renting the Lake Pavilion and using the installed grills.
